Senior Backend Engineer – Video Processing

A high-growth sports media SaaS company, backed by elite investors and professional athletes, is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer with deep technical expertise in video processing. This is a pivotal role supporting the only current video engineer on the team and helping scale a product used by some of the most prominent sports organizations globally.

The position is remote-first , with occasional in-person meetings in Paris . Candidates in Western Europe are preferred for time zone alignment.

The Role

You’ll work side by side with the company’s current video engineer to scale, optimise, and innovate on their backend video infrastructure. The platform supports live and on-demand sports media workflows and requires high-performance video clipping, transcoding, and distribution pipelines.

You’ll be building critical backend systems that:

  • Transcode and clip video content for real-time delivery
  • Handle multiple input and output formats with low latency
  • Support live media ingestion and distribution
  • Integrate tightly with the AWS stack and cloud-native infrastructure
  • Power end-to-end media delivery pipelines for elite sports clients

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and maintain video processing pipelines using tools like FFmpeg
  • Design and scale backend services for live and on-demand video workflows
  • Work closely with the video engineer to own technical decision-making and system design
  • Ensure reliability , scalability , and performance across all media systems
