We currently have a fantasticopportunityfor an Electrical Engineer to join a leading and engineering companybased in Portsmouth.
Introduction
The primary role of the Electrical Engineer will be to work on the design, development and commissioning ofcontrol systems forproduction equipment and products, managing multiple project work flows and liaising with customers andsuppliers, organisingpackages of work.
Responsibilities
Your duties will include working on motion control equipment and drives, safety systems, andmonitoring systems – PLC and video based.This majorityof this role will be desk-basedspecification, design and documentation, also involving liaising with control systems suppliers and contracting companies. Managing projects and work flows,coordinating and assisting on the shop floor, taking the designs through to deliveryinto the manufacturing process, so a hands on approach will also be required for this position.
- Working on the implementation of new lines as well as supporting existing systems.
- You will be able to approach challenges and develop solutions with a low level of supervision before presenting them.
- Your duties will include working on motion control equipment and drives, safety systems, and monitoring systems both PLC and video based. You will also liaise with other departments andsuppliers during the execution of project engineering tasks.
- Understanding complex equipment requirements and translating into workable designs.
- Understanding the relationship between the electrical and mechanical physical systems,control systems and the overall production process or complex machinery.
Ideal Experience
- Engineering Degree or equivalent relatable experience.
- 3+ years experience of industrial control systems
- A Competent Person (Low Voltage) or similar qualification.
- Projects experienceinvolving the specification, design and commissioning of electricalcontrol systems.
- Ability to focus on delivery of core deliverableswhen dealing with evolving requirements and project pace changes as well as managing multiple work streams and conflicting priorities.
Desirable Experience
- Siemens PLC and motion control systems experience
- Specification, design and implementation of precision machinery motion control systems.
- PLC programming and servo drive configuration knowledge, ideally of Siemens systems.
- Knowledge of basic IP networking.
- Ability / knowledge of another European language
Salary – Β£45K – Β£60K
Hours: Day Shift Monday to Friday
