Senior Project Manager Job Description
Responsible for the management, performance, and completion of single or multiple projects involving the development, manufacturing, installation, and handover to customer service of electronic, electromechanical, and software systems and equipment. Ensures projects are completed within budget, schedule, contract requirements, and supports the growth of the base contract.
Senior Project Managers typically manage projects exceeding £5M and may oversee project managers.
Responsibilities include mentoring and developing direct reports, recommending strategic improvements to directors, and working with them to implement these improvements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, oversee, monitor, and approve all project elements from inception to completion, including proposal development, product design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, delivery, installation, and acceptance.
- Ensure quality of the end products.
- Manage projects involving extensive software engineering development.
- Serve as the primary contact for the customer.
- Review and approve technical approaches, feasibility, and cost estimates.
- Plan and direct project team integration across various functional areas.
- Conduct coordination meetings and present project updates to senior management.
- Manage resource availability for projects, including engineering, manpower, production, and facilities.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications
- Essential: BSc Degree or equivalent in engineering or a technical discipline.
- Desirable: Master\’s Degree or equivalent in Business or technical discipline; Professional Project Management qualification.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
- Essential: Full lifecycle project management; team building and motivation; experience with project management tools; contract negotiations; experience with Smart Card System Development, IT Infrastructure (PCI DSS), or software/hardware development projects.
- Desirable: Management of multi-tiered software or engineering development.
Personal Qualities
- Effective communication skills verbally and in writing.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple complex systems.
