As MWH Treatment embarks on its new journey within the Essex & Suffolk area (NWL), we are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with a Principal Civil Engineer . Based predominantly in the Essex & Suffolk region, you will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead – Civil or the Senior Design Manager. This role will necessitate traveling to other MWH regions initially to embed and support your career within the MWH Treatment culture.

Our programme of work, across a variety of water and wastewater schemes, is expected to be in the region of £280M.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Produce design layouts that are cost-effective, meet the requirements of the specification, and can be constructed and commissioned effectively. The term ‘cost’ encompasses all costs associated with the design and subsequent construction, including design time, material costs, erection costs, and impacts on other disciplines.
  2. Ensure that standard practices are utilised wherever possible.
  3. Provide estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
  4. Work according to procedures and processes to ensure the department\’s ongoing development.
  5. Assist in developing, monitoring, and reviewing procedures and processes.
  6. Write, update, and monitor efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department.
  7. Coordinate designs with all other disciplines internal and external to MWHT to ensure integrated and effective design processes.
  8. Maintain files and records throughout contract durations.
  9. Assure customer satisfaction, recognizing it as key to achieving other objectives, including all beneficiaries of our processes.
  10. Assist in supervising and developing staff.
  11. Contribute to ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
  12. Minimize waste from all departmental activities.
  13. Ensure designs account for environmental issues.
  14. Ensure that designs fully consider all health and safety requirements.
