We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.The shift pattern for this post isRenal services are seeking to recruit two band 6 Charge Nurses to join the ward 4C renal surgery team at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The band 6 shift pattern is long days with occasional night shift rotation. Applications are invited from experienced nurses who are active on the NMC Register and who possess at least 3 years renal nursing experience to join our friendly team on ward 4C as a band 6 Charge Nurse. Ward 4C is a 15 bedded kidney transplant and renal surgical ward and is home to the West of Scotland Kidney Transplant Unit. The unit runs a very busy live donor transplant programme and also receives kidney offers from NHS ODT, along with kidney transplantation the ward also holds the reputation as a centre of excellence for renal dialysis vascular access creation, therefore providing care to a specialised renal patient group. Alongside the renal transplant and surgical ward, the QEUH renal services has a further 50 inpatient beds, Ward 4A – offers 8 high acuity beds and 12 general nephrology beds. 4D – is our general nephrology ward. The Renal Assessment Unit (RAU) is also homed within 4C with both teams’ working closely together to ensure seamless patient care. These band 6 positions will allow successful candidates to enhance and develop their renal experience in all aspects of Kidney transplantation, renal vascular access cannulation procedures and complications as well as gaining valuable ward management experience. New band 6 staff will be offered the opportunity and support to undertake the NHS GGC clinical leadership programme. The successful candidate should possess the ability to work to high clinical standards and should be flexible, forward thinking and able to work effectively within a changing and high pressured environment. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date.
