A new opportunity has arisen for an accomplished Senior Designer to join a dynamic research and development team working on advanced visualisation technologies for minimally invasive surgery. The role offers the chance to shape innovative products enhancing safety and outcomes in the medical device sector, with scope for rapid professional growth. Position Overview Job Title: Senior Designer (Medical Devices) Salary: C £60,000, negotiable subject to experience Location:Nottingham (with hybrid/home working flexibility) Reporting to: Head of Research & Development Key Responsibilities Develop and iterate products for a novel surgical visualisation platform, from early-stage concepts to fully-fledged devices Generate creative solutions to complex design challenges through ideation and rapid prototyping Conduct hands-on prototype testing to assess strengths and weaknesses Prepare documentation for design control and validation processes Independently plan and manage individual programmes and contribute to R&D strategy Collaborate with internal management and external vendors within the development programme Assist with management and development of intellectual property Essential Requirements First or upper second-class degree in mechanical/biomedical engineering or industrial design Minimum two years\’ experience in medical device design, including work in ISO13485 environments and preparation of design control/validation documentation Highly creative problem-solving capabilities Desirable Skills and Personal Traits Advanced CAD/CAM skills (SolidWorks preferred) Experience with physical prototyping, manufacturing processes, and mould flow analysis Project planning and time management proficiency Strong presentation and communication skills for technical/non-technical audiences Ability to learn rapidly, self-motivate, and work independently Fluent in English, with excellent report writing and MS Office skills Forward planner, reliable, empathic communicator, and collaborative team player Willing and able to travel, flexible to occasional extended working hours, and possesses a clean or near-clean driving licence Career Development Potential for management responsibility and growth as the team develops Exposure to advanced R&D and collaboration with expert engineers and software professionals Application Process Applicants must be EU nationals or have permanent leave to remain in the UK.
