About the Role as a Teaching Assistant:

  • Providing in-class support to pupils with a range of special educational needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis to help them access the curriculum and achieve academic progress.
  • Working alongside teaching staff to ensure the individual needs of students are met.
  • Helping create an inclusive, nurturing learning environment.
  • Taking part in planning and reflection meetings with school staff where needed.

Ideal Candidate Requirements for a Teaching Assistant:

  • A recent graduate (any subject) with a strong academic background.
  • Experience working with children or young people, either in a school, tutoring, coaching or voluntary setting.
  • A calm, compassionate and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A genuine desire to support learners with additional needs.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or the willingness to apply for one.
