This permanent position is essential for the operability team, which comprises dedicated ex-submariners utilising their extensive experience from operating the UK SSN & SSBN fleet. The role includes working on the current SSN-AUKUS platform design, with a focus on Damage Control and Submarine Escape and Rescue. Relocation support packages are available, subject to eligibility criteria. Key Responsibilities: Reviewing and assessing the developing SSN-AUKUS Submarine design to ensure it is safe, operable, and habitable by its crew. This includes attending design reviews, reviewing the 3D CAD model, design documentation, participating in experimental design and user trials, and providing design guidance. Providing specialist support to safety activities such as HAZID, HAZOPS, and ALARP Optioneering workshops. Offering specialist support to the Operating Documentation Production Authority in support of OPDOC derivation and verification. Job Requirements: Experience as a CAT B/C Ships Platform Systems operator/maintainer, with relevant qualifications; Astute preferred. Experience and knowledge across disciplines such as Platform systems, Electrical Generation & Distribution, and Whole Boat Activities. General understanding of the manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, and testing processes used within the business. Basic understanding of environmental challenges that the product will be exposed to. Knowledge of the capabilities and appropriate uses of specialised analysis tools. Knowledge or recognition of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations.
