Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours per week) – Permanent

Location: Sheffield, Sheffield International Study Centre

Salary: £27,264 per annum

The role is to support students’ progression needs both face-to-face and online. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of tutorial sessions, 1-1 support and guidance, establishing a programme of activities to help students develop skills and confidence outside the classroom in preparation for their transition to HE. This will require excellent people skills and a good level of administrative ability.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Acting as a personal tutor to deliver Academic Success tutorials and provide 1:1 personal development, academic and progression counselling to students.
  • Collaborate within the network to design and create learning materials around study skills, welfare topics, and employability for Academic Success tutorials.
  • Update and maintain the virtual learning environment and embed digital learning technologies into delivery.
  • Implement interventions related to attendance in a timely manner according to the Attendance Policy and ensure accurate records.
  • Track student performance, liaise with the academic team to identify intervention strategies, and maintain performance and progression records.
  • Monitor, track, and report on student destination offers; refer students to the Extended Progression Team for assistance if they do not meet progression requirements.
  • Gather data on work completion via VLE analytics to identify gaps and actions for students.
  • Support students\’ mental and physical health; liaise with the Student Wellbeing Team when concerns arise.
  • Keep student records up to date and accurate.
  • Support the organization and delivery of wellbeing, enrichment, and transition events.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of reception and other student-facing environments, handling queries via face-to-face, VLE, email, and phone, and coordinating with other functional areas.
  • Work as part of a team to organize registration, arrivals, induction, enrichment activities, and events; provide guidance to team members.
  • Maintain professional communication with external stakeholders, including parents, sponsors, guardians, agents, and partner universities.
  • Manage relationships with key university departments such as Student Support and Admissions.
  • Engage with marketing and agent visits, including presentations and contributing to marketing materials.
  • Provide resources and support to other teams as needed.
  • Assist with general administration duties for the center, including covering for absent staff and during peak periods.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Senior Leadership Team.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience demonstrating ability to work and think independently.
  • Experience supporting students in an educational context.
  • Experience organizing trips and visits, including completing risk assessments.
  • Experience creating engaging content and delivering workshops.
  • Experience collaborating with external partners to facilitate activities and engagement.
  • Experience facilitating the ‘student voice’ and using effective feedback mechanisms.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Experience in a customer service environment.
