SMT Operator – Job Role:
As an SMT Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating SMD equipment, which includes DEK printers and Siemens placement machines. Occasionally, you will also assist with other assembly tasks such as hand placement.
Candidates should have experience in Surface Mount processes and be capable of consistently delivering high-quality output. The role requires standing for most of the day and handling small electronic components as tiny as 0201. Duties are diverse and include operating a single line, supporting colleagues on other lines, preparing feeders and kits, and utilising various inspection equipment.
Trainees are welcome to apply, with starting salaries at the lower end of the pay scale.
SMT Operator – Responsibilities:
Operate computer-controlled surface mount assembly machinery to successfully assemble surface mount technology printed circuit assemblies
Continually monitor the process to ensure perfect quality using inspection equipment
Ability to read machine error messages and correct placement & printing problems
Confident in hand placing SMT parts accurately onto circuit assemblies, ensuring correct polarity of devices
Kit and de-kit SMT placement machines and set up printing programs on automatic stencil printers
Document aspects of the Work Order including run times, hand fits, and process deviations
Read and interpret Drawings, Diagrams and Bills of Materials
Maintain high housekeeping standards
Remuneration: up to £25k per annum depending on experience working
Hours: Monday – Thursday: 08:00am-16:30pm (half-hour lunch), Friday: 08:00am-13:00pm (no lunch)
