Our client, a key public sector organisation, is seeking a Fleet & Equipment Manager to oversee the efficient operation of fleet and engineering workshops across multiple locations. This is a strategic role responsible for the management, servicing, and repair of vehicles and operational equipment, ensuring that vital public services are always supported.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the lifecycle of fleet vehicles and equipment from acquisition to disposal.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance, ensuring compliance with legal standards (PSV, MOT, LOLER).
- Implement preventative and reactive maintenance strategies for maximum fleet availability.
- Manage staff across regional workshops, ensuring efficient use of resources and high-quality service delivery.
- Lead stock management processes, ensuring the availability of critical parts and tools.
- Act as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding fleet and equipment issues.
- Contribute to contract and financial management, ensuring budgets are adhered to and value for money is achieved.
- Participate in the Regional Duty Officer Standby Rota, providing 24/7 operational support.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications: HND in a relevant discipline or Level 3 trade qualification (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years at management level in an engineering workshop or 3 years of relevant trade experience.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and communication skills.
- Proficient in using management information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and manage teams across multiple locations.
