Principal Designer job in Greater Manchester, joining an award-winning RIBA chartered practice. This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of Principal Designer duties across a wide range of projects, with the backing of an experienced in-house team. The role offers a salary of up to £50,000 + flexible hours.
The practice has an established reputation for design quality and technical delivery, with a portfolio spanning residential, education, commercial and public sector projects. You\’ll be joining a collaborative studio environment, working closely with design teams and contributing to the implementation of health and safety in design and compliance with the latest legislation.
Role & Responsibilities
– Support the discharge of Principal Designer duties across multiple projects
– Advise internal teams and clients on health and safety and risk management
– Assist with compliance under CDM Regulations and the Building Safety Act
– Coordinate pre-construction information and maintain QA documentation
– Attend project meetings and carry out site visits
– Work collaboratively with the internal PD team and contribute to training initiatives
– Support the development of tools and procedures to embed best practice.
Required Skills & Experience
– Experience delivering or supporting Principal Designer duties under CDM
– Knowledge of the Building Safety Act and its practical application
– Previous experience in a design, project management, building control or H&S role
– Strong attention to detail and understanding of compliance requirements
– NEBOSH Construction Certificate, APS Membership or similar qualification preferred.
