My client is a global law firm with their Competition Trade, & Foreign Investment team at the forefront of the field. They are now seeking a qualified solicitor to join their International Trade practice within their London office where you will provide strategic advice across a broad range of international trade matters.
The Team:
- Their International Trade practice focuses on export controls, economic and trade sanctions, customs, anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations, as well as regulatory compliance. They represent global clients in high-stakes trade compliance investigations, support them in resolving complex regulatory challenges, and assist with licensing, classification, and trade compliance programs across multiple sectors. With a strong global presence across the UK, Europe, Asia, and the US, they offer seamless cross-border legal services.
The Role:
- Support trade compliance investigations (both internal and external) and assist clients in resolving intricate compliance issues.
- Advise on trade classification, licensing arrangements, and regulatory matters.
- Engage directly with competent authorities and regulatory bodies on behalf of clients.
- Develop and implement bespoke trade compliance programs for multinational clients.
- Collaborate with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring seamless international legal support.
- Have the opportunity to work on competition law and foreign investment control matters if desired.
- Play a key role in client relationship management and business development, helping drive the team’s growth.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working on high value international trade matters and be able to work independently when required and have had plenty of experience leading on communications with clients, counsel and experts.
- You will have excellent drafting skills, as well as excellent academics and may have a post-graduate qualification in the field.
- To be successful, you have to be able to operate at a fast pace in a vibrant environment. You will have strong communication skills to build effective relationships with existing and new clients, and be able to cross sell clients to other teams or practice groups.
- You will be a team player and will be keen to invest time in all aspects of the business. You will understand the importance of the culture of the team and contribute positively to it
- You will help drive business development and will strive to understand clients’ needs and bring commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to working with clients.
