Our global headquarters in Birmingham is home to our dedicated paper manufacturing division providing a wide range of food packaging products for the likes of McDonalds, Amazon, Marks & Spencer and Greggs. Waste Management Supervisor We are now seeking a Waste Management Supervisor to be based on site here in Birmingham to join a newly formed waste management team. Shifts: TBC We are looking for a hands-on, enthusiastic, proactive, leader. You will be supervising and supporting the daily operational activity to receipt, inspect and dispose of waste and returned equipment and champion the identification and transfer of reusable equipment, ensuring everything meets our high standards. You’ll be responsible for the teams adherence to all site policies and procedures with specific emphasis on operational hygiene standards. Key Responsibilities – Waste Management Supervisor * Supervise and support the receipt of caged equipment returns and waste (plastic, cardboard and general waste). * Champion the identification and transfer of reusable equipment and ensure stock books are updated accordingly. * Monitor, measure and manage the team through associated key performance indicators to ensure all daily activity is achieved. * Ensure time and attendance records are accurate, holiday bookings are within resource tolerances and all absence/sickness is logged and managed. * Ensure all movements onto and off of site have the required, associated paperwork. * Support the reporting and catalogue of non-conforming waste. * Assume responsibility for all skip and bale collections. * Action any non-conformance of daily inspection records and safety checks. * Action, record and report all MHE and operating equipment repairs. * Facilitate any external inspections required. * Daily briefings, and recording of same, of all activity required of the team. * Support Waste Management Administrator and Operations Manager in maintaining driver collection and delivery schedules including trailer assignments and the tracking of same is recorded. * Support the liaison when required with collection sites, skip and bale partners. * Facilitate emergency collection requests, inclusive of any weekend requests. * Take accountability for site keys and securing of the site when non-operational. * Uphold company policies, health and safety standards, and environmental regulations. * Positively interact with customers, contractors, and visitors, and provide relief weighbridge cover when trained. * Undertake additional tasks as reasonably required by site management. Key Requirements – Waste Management Supervisor * Previous employment in a leadership role within a warehouse environment, ideally within the waste management sector * An in date FLT license with accompanying certificate. * Strong proficiency and familiarity with all Microsoft packages. Previous usage of SAP is desired but not essential. * Excellent administrative skills with attention to detail and organisational ability. * General understanding of HGV driver working hours regulations. * A strong customer care focus with the ability to maintain positive interactions in a professional environment. * An understanding of waste management techniques, permitted waste types, waste classification, and associated hazards would be a distinct advantage * Relevant safety awareness and plant training certifications for compactor/baling equipment would also be advantageous
