A leading global motor vehicle company is seeking an experienced UK-based Litigation Counsel to assist their legal team on an interim, full-time (40 hours per week) basis for an initial 6 month term.

Summary:
The company\’s Office of General Counsel is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Managing Counsel to oversee all litigation matters across Europe. This critical role will be based in the United Kingdom and will involve managing complex litigation across multiple jurisdictions, requiring a deep understanding of diverse legal systems and regulations. The successful
candidate will be a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership and communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the company\’s legal strategy in a dynamic and challenging international environment.
Responsibilities:
- Implement a robust process to track, assess risk and allocate resources to manage litigation across Europe.
- Work with attorneys in various European markets to manage and oversee all stages of litigation, from pre-suit investigation and pleadings through discovery, trial, and appeal.
- Develop and implement litigation strategies that align with the company\’s overall business objectives.
- Manage a portfolio of complex cases, ensuring effective case management and cost control.
- Supervise, coordinate and evaluate the work of external counsel across different jurisdictions.
- Provide expert legal advice and guidance to internal business clients on a wide range of litigation-related matters.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the legal team and cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate legal risks.
- Stay abreast of legal developments and regulatory changes across relevant European jurisdictions.
- Develop and deliver training programs to internal clients on litigation-related topics.
- Manage budgets and related financial reporting, while ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Report regularly to senior management on the status of litigation matters.

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in litigation, with a significant portion of that experience focused on managing cross-border litigation in Europe.
- Experience managing a team of legal professionals is highly desirable.
- In-house experience at a multinational corporation is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing successful litigation strategies.
EDUCATION & LICENSING:
- Law degree from a recognized university in the UK or another relevant jurisdiction.
- Admitted to practice law in the UK (or eligible for admission) and in good standing.
- Additional legal qualifications in other European jurisdictions are a plus.
