CBRE GWS is seeking a Handyperson/Grounds Engineer to work on a heritage customer site in Guildford.
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Handyperson/Grounds Engineer to join our team in Guildford. The successful candidate will assist Fabric Technicians and Grounds Team with daily fabric works, adhering to CBRE, client, and industry standards.
Technical Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess the following essential technical skills:
- 2-3 years of site experience in a similar role or fabric trade
- Completion or ongoing training in an accredited multi-skilled course (e.g., carpentry, wet trades, tiling, plastering, roofing, grounds), with certification from City & Guilds or NVQ
- Willingness to pursue health & safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS)
- Ability to manage varied workloads and meet KPIs
- Proactive work approach and ability to follow supervisory instructions
- Excellent customer service skills and professionalism on-site
- Knowledge of building/construction terminology
- Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical work
Key Duties
- Ensure fabric and grounds maintenance meet and exceed expectations and service agreements
- Support a large heritage estate, including walking extensive grounds
- Respond to emergency repairs and assist team members
- Perform reactive maintenance and PPM tasks
- Conduct grounds maintenance, litter picking, basic lamping, plumbing, painting, minor repairs, fire alarm testing, and carpentry
- Report deficiencies to supervisors and maintain maintenance records in CAFM
- Follow all safety procedures and support health & safety initiatives
- Maintain cleanliness of all CBRE areas per site standards
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with policies
- Build positive relationships with staff and clients
- Promote a safe, professional, and customer-focused work environment
- Maintain technical skills through ongoing learning
- Perform other duties as assigned and support out-of-hours emergencies
- Be flexible to work at other sites within the business unit
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 15:00, with a one-hour lunch break.
