Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Locum Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Blood Sciences team at (Insert Trust Name). This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to apply their specialist knowledge in a fast-paced, supportive, and quality-driven environment.
The successful applicant will work across various Trust sites as required, processing and analysing biomedical specimens, supervising junior colleagues, and delivering vital services that support clinical decision-making and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and validate a range of specialist investigations in Blood Sciences
- Interpret, analyse and report test results, escalating abnormalities as required
- Maintain and calibrate specialist laboratory equipment
- Supervise and mentor junior staff; deliver training as required
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, Quality Assurance and Health & Safety protocols
- Participate in the 24/7 shift system including lone working and on-call support
- Contribute to service improvements, audits, R&D, and training programmes
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
- Relevant BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
- Specialist knowledge and post-registration experience in Blood Sciences
- Competency in handling complex laboratory equipment and data systems (e.g., LIMS)
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
