Assembly Technician

Do you have a background in Mechanics, either through work or as a hobby? If yes, then SP Genevac, a well-established and highly regarded scientific equipment manufacturer, is seeking multiple Assembly Technicians to join our team based in Ipswich on a full-time basis due to increased volume.

SP Genevac specializes in research and production capital equipment, including products used in the fight against COVID-19. We pride ourselves on our quality work and positive work environment.

We offer opportunities to learn and develop your skills, with responsibilities including building and testing a range of SP products at our Ipswich facility. The Assembly Technician will report to the Production Manager. We provide a three-tier progression system to support training and understanding across our product range.

The key tasks for the Assembly Technician include:

• Assembling mechanical and electrical sub-systems and complete products.
• Testing assemblies to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Chamber and condenser assembly, including gassing, evacuation, and brazing.
• Diagnosing and correcting low-level faults.
• Moving materials and products within the facility.
• Conducting in-process quality inspections and maintaining quality records for ISO 9001 accreditation.
• Assisting in training other personnel in build and test processes when experienced.
• Identifying and reporting issues with items received from contractors or other departments.
• Meeting build times and quality specifications for each product line.

Practical skills in mechanical assembly are essential. Experience with brazing is desirable but not mandatory. Ideal candidates will have experience in light engineering, reading mechanical drawings, and lean manufacturing. Knowledge of health and safety procedures, manual handling, and quality awareness are important. Computer literacy and good communication skills in English are required, along with teamwork and flexibility.

This full-time, permanent role is physically demanding. You will need to adhere to all health and safety, PPE, and ESD procedures. Working hours are 37.5 per week: Monday 7:30-16:30, Tuesday-Thursday 7:30-16:15, and Friday 7:30-13:00.
