Job Description

Senior Privacy Counsel & Data Protection Officer (UK Remote / Hybrid)

📍 Location: London (Hybrid)

💼 Full-time | Permanent

A high-growth digital platform is seeking an experienced Senior Privacy Counsel to lead its global privacy programme and act as the registered Data Protection Officer (DPO). Reporting to the General Counsel, this strategic and hands-on role will collaborate with senior stakeholders across product, engineering, marketing, and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee global privacy compliance and serve as the organisation’s DPO
  • Advise on privacy by design across product development and marketing initiatives
  • Draft and negotiate privacy-related agreements and support global data transfers
  • Handle SARs, complaints, breaches, and regulatory communications
  • Monitor evolving privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, LGPD, etc.)
  • Provide regular risk reporting to leadership and the board
  • Champion privacy awareness and training across the company

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 8+ years PQE
  • In-house legal experience within a digital, media, or tech-driven business
  • Deep expertise in UK/EU data privacy law; familiarity with global frameworks
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience advising on data-driven products
  • Experience with OneTrust and privacy certifications (e.g. CIPP/E) desirable
  • Confident, low-ego team player with excellent communication skills
