Fixed Term until 12th July 2025 21.6 hours per week (0.6 FTE) The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College are now seeking a Lecturer- Hairdressing & Barbering Specialism to teach courses across a range of levels and to be a personal tutor on the courses in this curriculum area. The courses are predominantly coursework based and therefore we seek an innovative practitioner to design engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners. Following our agreed schemes of work, assessment schedules and student monitoring procedures are an essential component of this work and you’ll also be involved in internal verification activities and organise and take part in external verification. We’d like you to hold a Level 3/4 qualification in hairdressing and barbering and have demonstrable recent hairdressing/barbering industrial experience. You’ll hold a teaching qualification (or willing to work towards), have awareness of academic quality standards and be able to support, motivate and empathise with young learners, including monitoring their progress. You’ll ideally hold an Internal Verifiers qualification (or willing to work towards) and have energy, enthusiasm and passion for the subject and education. You’ll be hardworking and flexible with high personal standards and expectations with good planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills, with good attention to detail. Able to work well under pressure to agreed deadlines, you’ll work effectively as an individual and as a team member to achieve targets and be able to use new technologies to enhance teaching and learning. Please note this post may include evening work. Closing date for the return of completed applications is 4th February 2025.
