Hybrid working from our office in Stockbridge, Edinburgh.

Base salary, £30,000 – £35,000 depending on experience, plus employee benefits (listed below).

Locogen is a group of renewable energy companies head quartered in Edinburgh. Our vision is a world powered 100% by renewables; where everyone has access to affordable, sustainable energy and clean air. We have grown significantly over the last year and have ambitious plans. There’s lots to do!

We are now looking for a People Experience Advisor to support our People Lead in making improvements across the employee lifecycle as the business grows.

About our People Advisor Role:

This role will support our People Lead in making improvements across the employee life cycle. Specifically, you will lead on updating policies and processes to make them more accessible, provide more clarity and ultimately make them feel ‘more Locogen.’ You will also own the onboarding experience; making improvements and analysing feedback. The role will be super varied, supporting our People Lead across employee development, performance management, engagement and more!

Who will you be working with?

Lauren Salter, People & Development Lead: ‘The people function has some big goals for this year to enable the business to grow and for us to have a team who are fulfilled and high performing. My approach to HR is to step outside of the box, try to apply a service-design approach and continually innovate and iterate our people offering. If you want to know a bit about me, I am an Occupational Psychologist, a coach and I’m very passionate about marine life, and specifically turtles!’

Some of the things you might be doing:

  • Updating and maintaining our HR Systems, Policies, Processes, and Compliance: including handling routine employee lifecycle administration.
  • Administering our employee Compensation and Benefits program: including collating payroll data for the finance team.
  • Improving and conducting our Onboarding Processes: ensuring our process is engaging, effective and a positive experience for our new starters.
  • Employee Relations: Handling low-level employee relations cases, such as absence management, flexible working requests and informal conflict resolution.
  • Employee Development and Training: coordinating training sessions, workshops, and e-learning initiatives, tracking and monitoring training completion and collecting feedback for improvement.
  • Performance Management: including supporting the administration of performance appraisal process (e.g., scheduling, tracking submissions) and making sure 1-1s are happening effectively.
  • Engagement and Culture: Being a culture champion and assisting the People Lead with employee feedback initiatives.

Who would be a good fit for the role?

Our aim is a progressive, modern and efficient people function with employee experience at its heart. If you have a passion for the people experience, curiosity and the ability to approach HR with creativity and innovation you would fit right in here. We are growing and have lots of ideas so this role is ideal for someone who is adaptive and creative, comfortable with change and who wants to put forward ideas for positive impact. If you have a passion for sustainability and renewable energy, or just want to do something net positive for the world, then all the better!

Key skills and experience we are looking for:

  • Some experience working as a People Advisor or similar (HR Advisor / HR / People Operations or as part of a Human Resources Team).
  • Experience with making policy changes and ability to write policy in a tone which represents a supportive culture, but still meets legislative requirements
  • Experience leading (with some support) on low-level ER cases e.g. performance improvement plans, flexible working requests and absence management
  • Experience administering an HRIS and preferably some experience being part of system change
  • Demonstrable experience building relationships with line managers
  • Some experience with people analytics would be useful but not essential.
