Job Description
AI Data Scientist – Python Specialist (Contract) Location: Cambridge (Hybrid – 1 day/week onsite) Duration: 6 monthsDay Rate: £400–£550/day (Outside IR35)Start Date: End of AugustA leading Cambridge-based biotech company is urgently seeking an AI Data Scientist with strong Python skills to support the development of machine learning models for biomedical data analysis. You’ll be joining a small, agile team working on projects ranging from genomic data interpretation to clinical trial optimization. Key Responsibilities:
- Build and deploy ML models using Python, scikit-learn, and PyTorch
- Work with structured and unstructured biomedical datasets (e.g. genomic sequences, patient records, imaging)
- Collaborate with bioinformaticians and clinical researchers to translate data into actionable insights
- Contribute to the development of internal tools for data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in data science or ML, ideally in biotech or healthcare
- Strong Python programming skills and experience with ML libraries
- Familiarity with Jupyter, Pandas, NumPy, and MLFlow
- Experience working with clinical or biological datasets is a big plus
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, research-driven environment
Bonus Skills:
