Electronics Technician (IPC J-STD-001 Certified)

Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electronics Technician with current certification in IPC J-STD-001 to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, inspection, testing, and rework of electronic components and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to meet high-quality and reliability standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble electronic components, PCBs, and subassemblies according to engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
- Perform soldering (through-hole and surface mount) to IPC J-STD-001 standards.
- Conduct visual inspections and functional testing of assemblies using test equipment and tools.
- Identify and troubleshoot assembly or component-level defects and perform necessary rework or repair.
- Maintain documentation and production records accurately.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with ESD safety practices, company policies, and industry standards.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians or assemblers when required.
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or associate degree in electronics preferred.
- Current IPC J-STD-001 certification (Class 2 or Class 3, depending on product requirements).
- 2+ years of experience in electronic assembly or manufacturing environment.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in soldering techniques (SMT and through-hole).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (schematics, BOMs, assembly drawings).
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of ESD practices and safe handling of sensitive components.
- Familiarity with tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering stations, and microscopes.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional):
- Certification in IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies).
