About the Role

SR2 Consulting have partnered with a leading consultancy looking to make a critical leadership hire that is directly tied to the firm\’s five-year strategic plan. After experiencing 25% growth in its defence account in 2024, the consultancy are seeking a Vice President of Delivery to join and help grow the Defence account further

As VP of Delivery, you will be responsible for leading a 200-person team and overseeing a ~£20 million revenue stream. You will be fully accountable for P&L management, ensuring cost control and jointly driving revenue growth with the sales team. Additionally, you will oversee the successful delivery of all defence projects while maintaining exceptional client satisfaction.

We are looking for an industry expert with deep knowledge of Ministry of Defence (MoD) operations, including procurement, financial structures, security, and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership – Provide direction for the consultancy’s defence delivery function, aligning with long-term business objectives.
  • Team Development – Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing 200-person team, preparing them for rapid expansion.
  • P&L Ownership – Fully accountable for cost management, with joint responsibility (with sales) for driving revenue growth.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management – Cultivate strong relationships with MoD stakeholders, ensuring a deep understanding of government procurement, security, and ways of working.
  • Operational Excellence – Ensure all defence projects remain on track (green status) and are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard.
  • Technical & IT Delivery Oversight – Leverage technical expertise to drive efficiency and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Growth & Innovation – Identify opportunities to expand service offerings and improve delivery frameworks in defence consultancy.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Defence Industry Expertise – Prior experience at Director/VP level within the MoD or a top-tier defence consultancy.
  • MoD Knowledge – In-depth understanding of MoD procurement, financial frameworks, security, technology adoption and ways of working.
  • P&L Management Experience – A proven track record of managing £20M+ revenue, ensuring profitability and efficiency.
  • Leadership & People Development – Experience managing large teams (200+ employees), fostering a high-performance culture.
  • IT & Technical Delivery – Strong background in IT, technical, or programme delivery within the defence sector.
  • Client-Centric & Strategic Thinker – Adept at balancing high-level strategic planning with hands-on execution.
  • Security Clearance (SC) – Desirable but not essential.
