Role: Financial Accountant

Location: Hybrid, Bedfordshire
The Accountancy & Finance Division at The ONE Group is currently looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to join a market leading and growing business. You will play a key role in delivering accurate, insightful financial reporting. This position offers broad exposure across technical accounting, audit, and senior stakeholder interaction, with real scope to influence processes and support ongoing change within finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage key technical accounting areas including leases, financial instruments and hedging
- Prepare and review complex, judgemental accounting calculations in line with applicable accounting standards and internal policies
- Take ownership of balance sheet reconciliations across technical and judgemental areas, including provisions and lease accounting
- Prepare balance sheet, cash flow and working capital forecasts and budgets
- Produce clear monthly balance sheet analysis, commentary and variance explanations for senior finance stakeholders
- Review work completed by a junior accountant, including journals, reconciliations and statutory submissions
- Provide detailed analysis to finance stakeholders on P&L items such as lease costs, foreign exchange and exceptional items
- Support internal and external audit processes, including interim and year-end reviews
- Promote consistent application of accounting policies across the finance team and deliver guidance where needed
- Investigate and resolve balance sheet issues, posting corrective entries where appropriate
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and controls
- Support period-end close activities and internal reporting deadlines
- Coach and develop one direct report in line with wider finance objectives
- Contribute to finance change initiatives, particularly within balance sheet and control environments
Skills & Experience Required
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post-qualification experience
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK accounting standards
- Experience working with both internal and external auditors
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Keen for continuously developing in the role
