Job Description Main Purpose of the Role Working within Perth & Kinross Council is more than a job, it\’s about being part of something meaningful. It\’s about being part of an organisation that puts people at the heart of all we do and provides opportunities to make a real difference by enhancing every life we touch. \\n We currently have the following opportunity: \\n Early Years Family Learning Practitioner (Fixed Term until 31 March 2026) – PKC12947 £17,520 – £18,763 (24 Hours per week, Term-time only) Rattray Primary School \\n An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time (24 hour), term-time Early Years Family Learning Practitioner to take on the role of family learning and parental engagement within the Blairgowrie community. \\n This post is based at Rattray Primary School and will include supporting other settings in the Blairgowrie ELC community. This is a fixed term post ending on 31 March 2026. \\n The earliest years of life are crucial to a child’s development and have a lasting impact on outcomes in health, education and employment opportunities later in life. \\n Perth & Kinross aim to ensure that all families have access to high quality family learning within the early years which ensures that parents/carer can support their children and equip them to grow up healthy, happy, attaining and achieving. \\n Family learning encourages family members to learn together, with a focus on intergenerational learning. Family learning activities can also be specifically designed to enable parents to learn how to support their children’s learning. Skills & Experience Required You should hold an appropriate qualification e.g. SNNEB, NNEB, HNC, SCQF level 7 equivalent or SVQ 3 in Childcare and Education or SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People). Some jobs may have been traditionally carried out predominately by one gender, but we would encourage you to apply if you meet the requirements, irrespective of your gender. \\n The successful candidate will have a creative way to develop positive relationships with families through organising a range of family learning opportunities in the local community. These may include: \\n \\n Peep Learning Together Programme \\n Eat Well Play Well \\n Bookbug \\n Incredible Years \\n Peep Progression Pathway \\n Play on Pedals. \\n \\n Successful candidates will work directly with parents and families (collectively and individually), to ensure parents/carers can support their children\’s learning and development at home. \\n The successful candidate will have a genuine interest and commitment to working with families in a professional capacity. \\n Successful candidates must have: \\n \\n Previous experience supporting families in an ELC setting, as well as having an understating of national and local policies and frameworks to develop this work further. \\n Experience and skills in working with parents, young people or children. \\n Experience in assisting in the engagement, development and delivery of community based learning (organising groups and delivering learning programmes). \\n A commitment to working towards the concept of inclusion. \\n IT and computer skills. \\n Interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and communicate effectively with others. \\n Experience of effective team working. \\n A flexible approach and be able to work at various times, locations and situations. \\n You must have a valid driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross. \\n Experience and skills in group work. \\n Previous training in Peep Learning Together, Solihull Approach – Foundation, however not essential as training can be provided. \\n An understanding of the importance of play. \\n Working at Perth & Kinross Council Our values and behaviours influence our work and support us in the delivery of our key priorities.
