As a trade operative with Leeds City Council, you’ll be motivated by using your skills to improve the places that matter to people in Leeds.
It’s about more than routine repairs, you will make a real difference to residents and their communities by maintaining homes, buildings and facilities to a high standard as well as contributing to refurbishments and new developments.

About The Role
You will be part of Leeds Building Services, our in-house team which delivers a repairs and maintenance service, both responsive and planned, as well as scheduled works across the city. We work on domestic and commercial buildings across the council estate, including homes, schools, civic buildings, offices, leisure centres and community facilities.
We have a range of vacancies for qualified trades people, whether you are multi trade, single trade or a specialist craft worker. You must be committed to producing high-quality work and able to collaborate effectively as part of a team focused on delivering excellent service.
We pay a competitive salary, which varies depending on the role. If you are qualified and experienced in any of the following trades, we would love to hear from you:
- CCTV/security engineer £35,235
- Heating, air conditioning or heat pump engineer £36,124
- Lift engineer – passenger and goods £36,124
Muti-skilled roles attract a salary in the range £34,314 to £37,938.
About You
As a trade operative with Leeds Building Services, you will hold a qualification certifying your skills in the relevant trade, normally at a minimum of Level 2. The qualifications required vary according to the area of work.

For all the roles, you will also bring:
- experience of carrying out trade responsibilities to a high standard, using the appropriate tools and equipment for the job
- ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively as part of a small team or independently
- confidence using a mobile device and other digital technology to manage work and maintain records
- good communication skills supporting a commitment to excellent customer service
- full UK driving licence to travel to work locations around the city
- capacity to meet the physical demands of the role
