Stantec are looking for an Advanced Hydraulic Modelling Lead and CFD Specialist.
The successful candidate will lead a team of specialists in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) work, ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects and innovative solutions that drive efficiency and sustainability throughout our water and energy portfolios i n addition to developing steady state and transient hydraulic studies as part of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of CFD specialists, providing guidance, support, and mentorship
- Develop advanced hydraulic models to solve complex fluid dynamics problems
- Conduct detailed CFD simulations and analyses to support project objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate CFD results into broader project plans and lead on technical project pursuits
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of CFD models and simulations
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in CFD technology and methodologies and develop plans to maintain performance
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations
- Participate in client meetings and provide expert advice on CFD-related matters
About You
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field
- Extensive experience in CFD and hydraulic modelling, with a proven track record of successful project pursuit and delivery
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team of specialists
- Proficiency in CFD software such as Flow3D, OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent, or similar
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Experience with advanced CFD techniques and methodologies in water and wastewater applications, e.g. mixing, contact tanks, reservoir turnover, hydraulic structures, as well as dams and hydropower applications, e.g. spillways, overflows, etc.
- Experience in surge/water hammer studies and relevant software such as Varisim, WANDA, etc.
- Experience in detailed steady state hydraulic studies of water and wastewater treatment using relevant software, such as Hades.
