A Little More About Your Role
- Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Pedestrian Modeller to join our team in the UK. In recent years we have introduced exciting changes leading to more projects from more sectors than ever before and there\’s more to come.
- As the global Centre of Excellence for Pedestrian Modelling, the UK team supports colleagues from around the world on Rail, Aviation, Sports, Tall Buildings, Cultural, Masterplanning and many other sectors.
- Our team is currently based in London, Leeds and Newcastle, but we are happy to consider applications from anywhere in the UK we have 33 UK offices to choose from!
- As a Pedestrian Modeller, you will build models, plan surveys, support junior staff and contribute to business development goals for the team. Given the ambitions of WSP and our People Movement team, there will be excellent opportunities to progress in all areas: technical, business development and supervisory/management.
- Your initial focus will be on helping us to deliver the exciting projects we’ve already won but we also have an eye on the future and are already engaged in several initiatives to improve the way we and others worldwide do things through innovative research: if you have new ideas, we’ll want to hear about them.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
- Ideally you will have at least an undergraduate degree in a numerate or transport discipline; a Masters degree in a transport discipline is even better but not essential.
- We’re looking for people already trained in at least one main Pedestrian Modelling software, such as Bentley Legion or PTV VISWALK.
- Complementary (but not essential) software skills could include CAST, Mass Motion, VISUM, VISSIM, S-Paramics, SATURN, AIMSUM, LINSIG, TRANSYT, ArcGIS or Power BI.
- We’re looking for someone with around 1-6 years of experience at this time to help support our Project Managers and also give ad-hoc support to our graduates.
- Numerical skills are also required in this role processing survey data, creating demand inputs for models and analysing outputs are equally important as building models.
- We would expect some familiarity with some of the common industry guidance / standards (e.g. from Network Rail, London Underground, Transport for London, Sports Ground Safety Authority). We don’t expect every detail to be recalled, but you should have an awareness of what documents exist, the kind of guidance they give and an appreciation of when and which ones should be consulted and how to apply them.
