Colchester United Community Foundation is the official charity partner for Colchester United Football Club. We provide high-quality community programmes to 9,000 children, young people, and adults from across the region each week, which includes supporting the Colchester United Women’s Team.

Are you a talented and committed GK Coach who would like the opportunity to work supporting the Colchester United Community Foundation Women’s Team?

If you’re a GK Coach with experience and/or passion for the female game alongside working in senior women’s football, then this is an opportunity for you!

This role provides an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious football coach to join our Women’s Coaching Team and become one of the leading figures at the top of our women’s pathway.

Roles and responsibilities include working closely with the Colchester United Women’s Team Committee, Head Coach, and other coaching staff, planning and delivering GK training sessions, managing players, supporting recruitment and matchdays. Matchday programme contributions, fan engagement, and attending club engagements will also be requested in this role to support if required.

This position is a key appointment within the Women’s & Girl’s pathway, requiring tenacity and creativity to overcome obstacles and challenges, while contributing to the success and positive impact of our work on colleagues, players, their families, fans, and communities. You will need to be a leader in your role, capable of inspiring and motivating on and off the pitch.

A successful candidate must be available to commit to the following times and able to travel to the venue as often as possible:

  • Training – Wednesdays (7.30-9.30pm) @ Shrub End Community and Sports Centre, Colchester (CO2 9BG).
  • Matchdays – Sundays (2pm KO) @ Colchester Garrison, Colchester (CO2 7SZ) and away games at venues across Eastern Region Division 1.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • FA Introduction to Coaching Award
  • Background in GK Coaching/Playing
  • FA Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF)
  • FA Safeguarding Children
  • Willingness to complete a CUFC Enhanced DBS Check
  • Full Clean UK Driving License
  • Experience coaching in the senior women’s game and understanding the needs of female athletes

Additional Qualifications & Experience:

  • UEFA C Coaching Award (or currently enrolled in the course)
  • FA National GK Coaching Award (or currently enrolled or expressing interest to join the course)

Roles & Responsibilities:

Develop

  • Build positive and effective relationships with colleagues, volunteers, players, committee members, and supporters on and off the pitch during training and matchdays.

Deliver

  • Provide high-quality coaching and matchday experiences for GK’s.

Support

  • Assist with recruitment, development, and engagement of GK’s towards individual and team KPIs.
  • Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive team culture.

Collaborate

  • Work with colleagues, players, and committee members to maximize the development and potential of first team GK’s and the team.

Evaluate

  • Assess development through individual learning plans (ILPs).
  • Showcase success to evaluate the impact and coaching effectiveness of GK’s and the team.
