The predicted salary is between 42000 - 84000 £ per year.

Primary responsibility for the integration and upgrade of production/refurbishment facilities and deluge systems at Calor’s Belfast terminal and filling plant. Coupled to this, responsibility for other smaller assigned engineering projects within a team of engineers across five terminals and depots across the island of Ireland. The Belfast, Dublin and Cork terminals are top tier COMAH sites with safe storage of bulk LPG, with storage vessels and associated pipework including cylinder and bulk filling.

Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Coordination

· Establish and maintain effective communication and reporting channels with National Infrastructure and Production teams, consultants, and multi-disciplinary teams to support seamless collaboration across all project stages.

· Lead the coordination of feasibility studies, including site surveys, technical investigations, and evaluation activities to assess viability and inform design decisions.

· Manage cross-functional design teams, ensuring effective integration of all engineering disciplines and adherence to programme and quality benchmarks.

· Proactively drive collaboration and engagement across all stakeholders to ensure alignment on technical and commercial objectives.

Project & Financial Management

· Take ownership of project budgets from inception to completion, including cash flow forecasting, monitoring expenditure, and recommending valuations and payments.

· Implement and maintain robust project controls to monitor progress, identify variances, and support timely forecasting and mitigation actions.

· Ensure accurate and timely preparation of project documentation, including master programmes, risk registers, cost reports, management of change and human factors engineering reviews, and progress updates.

Reporting & Documentation

· Produce clear and concise project reports tailored to each project stage, covering scheduling, inspections, milestones, and completion under defects liability and maintenance periods.

· Maintain a structured document management system to ensure traceability, version control, and ease of access to project records.

· Support decision-making through regular reporting on technical, commercial, and risk-related matters.

Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance

· Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering principles, standards, legislation, and client specifications.

· Resolve engineering and design issues, working closely with internal specialists and subcontractors to deliver practical and compliant solutions.

· Review and approve supplier and subcontractor documentation, ensuring alignment with project requirements.

· Maintain technical oversight of design, procurement, fabrication, and construction activities to ensure coherent and coordinated delivery on site.

Sustainability & Continuous Improvement

· Champion sustainability throughout project delivery by identifying and implementing energy-efficient and low-impact engineering solutions.

· Promote the sharing of best practices and lessons learned across the project portfolio to drive continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

· Build and maintain strong relationships, acting as the technical liaison and trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle.

· Lead Calor and contractor meetings, site visits, inspections, and on site activities as required.

· Provide clear communication of risks, issues, and changes, escalating where appropriate and ensuring proactive resolution.

General:

· Mentor and support Graduate Engineers within the team.

· Represent Calor on relevant technical committees and authorising bodies as required.

· Operate with a high level of autonomy, managing interfaces with both internal and external organisations.

– A third level degree ideally in civil or structural engineering, project management, construction, or equivalent with a view to chartership.

– Competent Engineer with 5 years of experience in the areas of mechanical, construction, and project management.

– Ability to develop and nurture relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

– Experience in managing large scale construction projects with multiple contractors operating at once or in conjunction.

– Results driven and focused hands-on individual with demonstrated capability to manage a range of tasks.

– Demonstrate a strategic approach to achieve business objectives.

– Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a cross functional team.

– Excellent communication and IT skills.

– Experience within the energy industry would be an advantage.

– Full clean driving license as all island travel is essential.
