Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
As part of SSEN Transmissions Offshore Portfolio of works, we have an opportunity for a Structural/Civil OHL Engineer to join our newly formed Offshore AC Project Engineering team to help drive forward our Island projects and successfully deliver a network for Net Zero. Our Island projects facilitate the connection to our HVDC systems and include state-of the-art AC plant, grid control and stabilisation technology.
You will
- Prepare and review designs through the development and execution phases, including, for example, route selection, substation tie-ins, and stage-by-stage diagrams.
- Promote best practices within the OHL design and installation by suggesting improvements in specifications, technology options, and the management of engineering risks.
- Manage and promote safety within your assigned projects through the implementation of CDM procedures and practices, ensuring that engineering issues comply with relevant company, HSE, and industry regulations.
- Be responsible for Engineering delivery on your assigned projects, with a typical capital value of £50m to £ 100m. Working closely with Engineering Managers, Lead Project Managers and Project Managers you’ll ensure that Engineering and Quality risks are identified and understood, and projects are successfully delivered.
You have
- Demonstrable experience working on the transmission network with knowledge of Overhead lines specifically development/design/specification and be comfortable to technically assess issues and/or problems and critically assess a range of technical solutions.
- A good technical understanding of relevant legislation and the implications of this for Transmission network management for both Assets and Projects, including CDM & ESQCR is essential.
- Effective communication skills, and you should be able to communicate often complex technical issues clearly and concisely to facilitate decision making by senior management.
- Confidence in working alongside key stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally with an appetite for building strong, lasting relationships.
- Ideally, a Degree qualification in Mechanical, Civil or other relevant engineering discipline and ideally be a Chartered Engineer in a relevant institution or working towards chartered status.
