We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join the finance team of a large, successful retail business based at their Head Office in Plymouth. Reporting to the Overheads Manager and as part of the Overheads team, you will be responsible for overseeing several cost centres, ensuring that expenditure is recorded accurately and on a timely basis.
Day to day responsibilities will include processing of expenditure invoices via our data capture system to ensure payment deadlines are met, review of sensitive nominal codes, identifying CAPEX, prepayments and accruals. Analysing costs against budgets and reporting key variances to the Finance Manager team. Assisting in budgeting and reforecasting as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of a selection of cost centres & balance sheet codes
- Posting and evidencing monthly accruals, prepayments and other journals as required
- Preparing and posting of weekly/monthly expenses and credit card expenditure
- Analysing costs versus budgets and communicating key variances
- Full Accounts payable for all expenditure invoices using our data capture approval system
- reconciliation of our forklifts and printer equipment hire
- Supporting budgeting and reforecasting
- key role in Month end and year end deadlines
- adhoc tasks as and when required
