Position: Contract
Location: SZC Sites
Duration: 12 Months / Ongoing
Day Rate: £560 p/d PAYE + 36 Days annual leave // £750 p/d Umbrella
Job Purpose / Overview
Are you an experienced Temporary Works Supervisor with a track record of delivering large-scale projects in construction, nuclear, or high-security renewable sectors? Do you thrive in a high-paced, safety-critical environment?
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in Sizewell C, one of the UK's most significant clean energy projects. As a Temporary Works Lead, you will oversee the safe and effective execution of temporary works, ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards while shaping the future of nuclear energy.
Principal Accountabilities
As the Temporary Works Lead, you will be responsible for setting the strategy, procedures, and standards for all temporary works operations on the Sizewell C project. You will lead a team of Temporary Works Coordinators and Supervisors, ensuring all works comply with BS5975:2019, CDM Regulations 2015, and best practices in risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Oversight: Establish and maintain the Temporary Works (TW) strategy, procedures, and assurance framework.
* Team Management: Recruit, onboard, and manage a skilled team of Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs) and Temporary Works Supervisors (TWSs).
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure full compliance with BS5975:2019, CDM Regulations 2015, and drive best practices in risk elimination and mitigation.
* Innovation & Efficiency: Develop standardised TW designs to enhance efficiency, improve safety, and streamline project execution.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with procurement teams, designers, and contractors to evaluate supplier competence and support sourcing strategies for TW design.
* Technology Integration: Implement innovative technology solutions to improve Temporary Works Register management and oversight.
* Performance Monitoring: Establish a TW assurance framework, ensuring high safety and quality standards across all subcontractors.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven Leadership – Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and setting high safety and quality standards.
* Technical Expertise – 20+ years in construction, with at least 15 years specialising in Temporary Works design and implementation.
* Compliance Knowledge – In-depth understanding of BS5975:2019, CDM Regulations 2015, and industry best practices.
* Engineering Background – Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and Chartered Engineer status.
* Strong Communication Skills – Ability to engage with senior stakeholders, contractors, and the TW design supply chain.
Desirable Skills
* Nuclear Industry Experience – Previous work on a nuclear new build or other high-security sites.
* Familiarity with ONR Licence Conditions – Understanding of nuclear regulatory requirements.
* Major Project Experience – Experience in temporary works for tunnelling, bridges, or other complex infrastructure.
