Job Summary

The Club Manager will oversee gym operations to ensure an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience and a financially successful club. They will lead a team of employees positively, providing ongoing training and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing staff including Assistant Managers, Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring staff follows customer service standards.
  • Staff Management
    • Schedule staff and ensure all shifts are covered.
    • Lead by example, maintaining accountability through training and coaching, aligned with PF’s values and goals.
    • Handle payroll processing weekly/bi-weekly.
    • Resolve employee issues or concerns.
    • Manage disciplinary and termination activities.
  • Front desk activities
    • Answer phones and assist callers.
    • Check members in.
    • Assist with new member sign-up and tours.
    • Address member requests, issues, and questions.
  • Ensure timely opening and closing of the gym.
  • Oversee cleanliness and maintenance, including daily cleaning responsibilities and safety of staff, members, and property.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and communicate needs promptly.
  • Manage marketing efforts, ensuring staff awareness and training on promotions.
  • Authorize expenditures, process refunds, and handle daily bank deposits.
  • Prepare HR forms and coordinate with the Corporate Payroll Team.
  • Track and report statistics weekly, monthly, and annually.
  • Provide backup support for absent employees.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
  • Experience as an Assistant Manager at Planet Fitness.
  • Exceptional leadership, diplomacy, and listening skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Physical Demands

  • Stand and walk continually during shifts.
  • Talk frequently in person or on the phone.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally encounter toxic chemicals.
