About the role
Are you a commercially savvy, innovative thinker with a passion for winning work and shaping strategic bids? Balfour Beatty Living Places (BBLP) is seeking a Commercial Manager to join our dynamic Work Winning team in Basingstoke . This is a pivotal role focused on developing and pricing compelling bid solutions that secure future projects while maintaining tender margins.
What you\’ll be doing
As a key member of our pre-contract team, you\’ll:
- Lead the pricing and commercial strategy for bids, ensuring innovation and value engineering are at the heart of every proposal.
- Collaborate across disciplines-estimating, design, procurement, and operations-to craft winning solutions.
- Engage directly with transformational clients to understand their needs and build strong relationships.
- Present proposals in a smart, clear, and compelling way to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage commercial risks and ensure bids align with Balfour Beatty\’s governance processes.
- Drive continuous improvement by integrating feedback from live contracts and industry developments.
- Develop pricing strategies using both top-down and bottom-up approaches.
- Ensure proposals meet client requirements and outperform competitors.
- Coordinate with legal, pensions, property, insurance, and HR teams for contract reviews.
- Manage tender risk and opportunity registers.
- Support successful tender handovers and ongoing delivery team collaboration.
