PURPOSE OF ROLE
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded insurance brokerage known for its strong client service and SME market expertise. They’re looking for an experienced SME Account Handler to manage a portfolio of clients, provide tailored insurance solutions, and ensure high levels of retention and satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a portfolio of SME clients, providing expert advice and support on their insurance needs
  • Handle renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business quotations
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive and responsive service
  • Liaise with insurers to negotiate terms and ensure competitive and appropriate cover
  • Ensure all client records and documentation are accurate, compliant, and up to date
  • Support Account Executives and contribute to the broader team’s success

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Respond to client queries by phone and email, delivering prompt and clear communication
  • Process and issue renewal and adjustment documents
  • Prepare and present insurance quotations tailored to client requirements
  • Update internal systems with accurate client and policy information
  • Coordinate with insurers for quotes, endorsements, and claims updates
  • Monitor diary tasks and renewals to maintain seamless service delivery

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as an Account Handler within commercial or SME insurance
  • Strong understanding of insurance products relevant to small and medium-sized businesses
  • Comfortable managing a busy portfolio with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with insurer portals and back-office systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and retention

SKILLS

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Strong attention to detail with sound administrative and organisational skills
  • Confident negotiating with insurers and presenting options to clients
  • Proficient in insurance systems and Microsoft Office
