We are seeking Health Protection Nurse’s to work within the East Region Health Protection Team. You will be based within NHS Fife Department of Public and work closely with Health Protection Nurse Specialists and Consultants in Public Health covering the East Region Health Protection function. The East Region Health Protection Team covers 4 boards (Fife, Forth Valley, Lothian and Borders). You may be required to travel to bases across the region.

You must be registered as a nurse / midwife on the UK NMC register, have a relevant first level degree and be able to demonstrate evidence of post-registration qualifications and further professional development. You must be willing to undergo further training to advance your skills and knowledge in the field of health protection.

You must have extensive post-registration experience. Community experience, and practical experience in the field of Public Health Nursing / Infection Control is desirable, experience in communicable disease and TB control would be advantageous.

You must have excellent analytical, judgemental, communication and computer skills. You should be self-motivated and innovative. Being able to work autonomously and in a team are essential.

Normal working hours are between 8-6pm Mon-Fri. There will be a requirement to provide cover for the regional on-call health protection service and possibly weekend working.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer / contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
