Financial Controller
Location: South Oxfordshire – Office based

About the Job
A newly created opportunity for a Financial Controller to take the reins of a hands-on leadership role, reporting into the Finance Director. This role will lead a small team and take ownership of financial controls, reporting, and systems across the group. The position will also be a key contributor to strategic planning and operational efficiency. This role has a clear path and fast route to becoming the Finance Director.
Duties will include:
- Overseeing the preparation of annual budgets and regular reforecasts
- Finance Business Partnering to SLT and wider Business
- Delivering monthly management accounts and customer profitability analysis
- Managing all ledger entries and ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial data
- Leading asset stewardship including fixed assets, debtors, stock valuation, and prepayments
- Monitoring cashflow with weekly forecasts to optimise company liquidity
- Managing the audit process and preparing tax submissions to HMRC and Companies House
- Overseeing credit control processes including risk assessments and overdue debt resolution
- Ensuring supplier onboarding, invoice approvals, and timely payments
- Supporting HR with payroll and compliance, including contract and right-to-work checks
- Working closely with directors to support strategic initiatives and continuous improvements
About the Successful Applicant
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience. You’ll be a confident communicator, capable of leading a small team and influencing across departments. Strong systems knowledge, problem-solving ability, and a flexible, proactive mindset are essential.
