PACKAGE DESCRIPTION

  • CONTRACT TYPE: FTC 5 months – Full-time
  • LOCATION: London
  • PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £60,000-£70,000 + London Weighting (£5,441) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

As a Production Executive, you’ll lead a talented production management team, shaping the future of how stories are told and helping drive meaningful change through compelling, purpose-driven content.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Commissioning & Production Viability: Ensures commissioning requirements are fully understood to develop viable proposals, secures price approval from the Head of Production (or equivalent), and confirms delivery feasibility within proposed timeframes
  • Operational Oversight & Compliance: Oversees production approval processes, aligning resources with editorial goals, and ensures compliance with BBC policies, guidelines, and legal requirements—particularly in health and safety, editorial policy, and environmental impact
  • Financial Management: Accountable for setting, adjusting, and monitoring budgets across a portfolio, assessing financial viability of new content, and making decisions to manage financial and operational performance
  • Team Leadership & Development: Leads and develops a diverse production team, identifying training needs, integrating safety and risk management into workflows, and ensuring consistent scheduling, budgeting, and delivery across productions
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Commercial Strategy: Engages and negotiates with internal and external stakeholders and third-party suppliers to maximise commercial opportunities for the BBC, resolve issues, and implement effective solutions that align with strategic goals.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Extensive Industry knowledge including commercial branded content, competitors, audience trends, and commissioning procedures, with a strong understanding of production systems and emerging technologies
  • Proven experience in production management across diverse genres and platforms, including co-productions and complex rights/funding models
  • Advanced project and portfolio management, including strategic planning, troubleshooting, and delivering complex projects efficiently
  • Strong operational expertise in health and safety, resource planning, and financial oversight to maximize production value
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate, solve complex problems, and implement strategies that drive efficiency and change across production environments.
