The team
As leader of the Prime Trading desk, you will help grow our business by interfacing with clients and working cross functionally with Engineers, Quants, Trading Ops, Sales, Account Management, and Legal/Compliance. You will also guide the team in pricing and risk-managing trades, and cover operational aspects of settlement.
The opportunity
- Lead and Grow the Kraken Prime Platform: Oversee all aspects of the Prime product, including strategy development, business development, execution, and risk management, all while ensuring the platform is positioned for long-term success.
- Innovate and Lead on Trading Infrastructure: Collaborate with tech teams to optimize and innovate the electronic trading infrastructure, from pricing engines to execution.
- Cross-Desk Collaboration: Work closely with other trading desks (spot, OTC, etc.) to align strategies, enhance liquidity, and drive synergies within the broader trading ecosystem.
- Client Relationship Management and Business Development: Collaborate with the Institutional Sales and Trading teams to cultivate and maintain relationships with institutional clients, and other stakeholders.
- Drive business expansion within the institutional segment.
- Work alongside other Kraken traders and cryptocurrency researchers to enhance market knowledge and expertise.
Skills You Should HODL
- Trading Product Leadership Experience: 5+ years in product, trading or technical leadership roles with experience driving end-to-end development of institutional-grade platforms (Prime brokerage, electronic trading, or similar).
- Client-Centric Thinking: Proven ability to translate institutional client needs into intuitive, scalable product solutions. Ability to drive the long-term growth of the Prime platform through strategic planning, business development, and the optimization of trading operations.
- Expert in Flow trading, Execution, and Risk: Deep understanding of trade execution, market structure, multivenue execution, pricing models, and risk management. Ability to bridge trading concepts into technical product requirements.
- Quantitative and Analytical Expertise: Strong quantitative and analytical skills; familiarity with financial markets modeling and complex trading systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Operational and Regulatory Awareness: Experience with operational processes, risk models and safeguards, ensuring trade compliance, smooth execution, and effective risk management throughout the trade lifecycle.
- Passion for Crypto and Innovation: A deep passion for the crypto industry, including staying at the forefront of new trends, technologies, and developments. A learning attitude and willingness to innovate are crucial.
- Exceptional Communication and Influence: Able to align diverse stakeholders, clearly articulate product decisions, and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
Nice to have
- Expertise on Derivatives and Delta One products (Total Return Swaps).
