Gist is currently recruiting for a Warehouse Manager to join our Thornbury, Bristol site on a full-time Permanent basis .
As Warehouse Manager , you will be responsible for leading a group of Site Operations Managers to ensure the efficient and cost-effective fulfilment of customer requirements. The Warehouse Manager will report to the General manager of the site and help shape the business and its objectives as part of the senior leadership team at site. You’ll also support build the operational structure and create teams that can implement and sustain continuous improvement, as well as be responsible for the people agenda and ensuring that your team understand the key priorities and can monitor performance effectively.

Role Details
Salary: Circa £62,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week
Working pattern: Any 5 from 7
Location: Gist Ltd, Short Way, Thornbury, Bristol BS35 3UT
What You’ll Do
Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Maintaining a continued focus around safety, ensuring the safety of our people and colleagues is your first priority
  • Creating a stable and high performing team within the warehouse function
  • Succession and development of Warehouse Site Operations Managers, Team Managers, Apprentices and Operatives ensuring a healthy internal pipeline within our organisation
  • Building and owning the warehouse business plan
  • Driving best in class performance, continuous improvement and efficiency within the warehouse function through your people
  • Delivering bottom up ownership of risk management and compliance
  • Delivering exemplary service to our customers with sustainable year on year improvement
  • Identifying, securing and executing growth opportunities with our customer
  • Effectively motivate, manage and inspire your Operations Managers to develop and grow the skills of their teams, to perform at the highest possible standard
  • Effectively manage the levels of manpower and other resources required to meet the customers SLA’s
  • Standing-in for the General Manager during periods of absence – acting up as a manager to your peers and their teams and fulfilling the GM’s duties in full
  • Proposing innovative ideas and suggestions for improvement – encouraging and listening to the suggestions and opinions of those around you to enhance the service we provide to our customers
  • Ensuring all requirements relating to safety, health, environment and quality are being fully implemented – where any issues arise, promote our Involve culture to enable your teams, and the wider teams to lead the way in solving these issues and ensuring a 100% safe environment at all times
  • Ensuring compliance with all Hygiene and Safety statutory requirements

  • Versatile, with a well-rounded operational background
  • Motivational, forward thinking and adaptable style of management – consistently investing in your team to ensure that they are given every opportunity to succeed and develop
  • Ability to identify and evaluate potential risks and, where possible, develop solutions to mitigate these
  • An open-minded approach to management – encouraging the views of others, and investing in them, giving the team themselves the opportunity to implement positive change
  • Excellent understanding of reporting and recording performance statistics
  • Strong working knowledge of different systems and how to fully utilise them
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • An understanding of Trade unions and how best to resolve an issues which may arise
  • Desire to fully embrace being part of a wider team – happy to lend a hand to others where needed
