QA & Records Manager

Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled QA & Records Manager to lead the quality assurance and waste records function within a complex nuclear environment. This is a strategic role that involves oversight of waste processing data, compliance assurance, and leadership of support operations related to radioactive and non-active waste management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the management and quality assurance of waste records, ensuring they meet compliance standards for future off-site transfer.
• Perform duties of a Nuclear Material Custodian, including inventory checks and updates to the Magnox accountancy system.
• Manage both paper and electronic records related to waste processing; oversee document scanning, verification, and uploading.
• Supervise and develop team members, managing workloads, performance reviews, and training needs.
• Maintain accurate working instructions, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with the site Waste Team to ensure integrated disposal solutions for all waste streams.
• Promote compliance with safety, health, security, environment, and quality (SSHEQ) policies and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support emergency scheme responsibilities as required.

Candidate Profile

• Significant experience in nuclear waste management, particularly with alpha, beta, and gamma emitting waste forms.
• Degree (or equivalent NQF Level 5) in a relevant scientific, environmental, or engineering discipline.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, stakeholder relationships, and policies in radioactive and non-radioactive waste management.
• Experience managing both hard copy and electronic waste records.
• Proficient in IT systems and relational database use; training available if needed.
• Familiarity with nuclear facility operational and safety controls.
