Emergency Care Practitioner

We are seeking to appoint Emergency Care Practitioners within the Urgent Care Centre and See & Treat Service at University Hospital of North Durham. The UTC is currently an out-of-hours service, and rotation into the See & Treat service within ED is required. This provides an opportunity to become an expert in both fields, supported by the UTC staff as well as ED. We are looking to appoint at band 7 level; however, candidates who do not meet all essential criteria may be considered with an annex until the criteria are fulfilled. Main duties of the job
- Support in implementing systems and processes that ensure high-quality service in Urgent Care & See & Treat.
- Provide telephone and face-to-face consultations, including home visits for patients with unscheduled and emergency care needs, over a 24/7 period.
- Work autonomously at a level appropriate to your clinical competence and within the scope of professional practice.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients from the first point of contact to discharge or referral, often analyzing highly complex facts and situations.
- Prescribe treatment within the scope of practice, including non-medical prescribing or Patient Group Directives.
- Ensure appropriate, timely, and seamless referral to other health and social care agencies through effective communication and negotiation strategies.
- Support the Clinical Service Manager in developing and promoting a high-quality service based on best practice and sound theoretical knowledge.
- The post holder should have the dexterity and accuracy required, e.g., limb manipulations, intravenous injections.

- Bachelor Degree (Level 6)
- Masters Qualification in Clinical Skills (Level 7) and Urgent Care competencies
- Experience at Band 6 level as a Registered Nurse/Practitioner
- Relevant clinical experience
- Current ILS and PILS certification
- Paediatric Clinical Skills (Level 7) with competencies signed off
- Minor Injury training and competencies signed off
- Teaching qualification
- Completed Core Essential Training (internal applicants)
- Experience working as an autonomous practitioner
