At Serco, we deliver essential public services in the UK and around the world. We’re looking for an IT Controls Tester to support our Financial Controls Framework through the assurance and testing of IT General Controls (ITGC) related to finance systems.
This is a vital role in helping ensure the integrity of Serco’s financial reporting, by assessing the effectiveness of IT controls and identifying areas for improvement across our finance-related applications.
As Part Of This You Will
- Plan, schedule, and carry out ITGC testing for a range of finance applications.
- Maintain an annual testing schedule and track progress.
- Liaise with system owners and technical personnel to coordinate testing activities.
- Complete control tests in line with defined methodologies and document evidence.
- Identify and report control deficiencies, including remedial actions and owners.
- Review third-party SOC1 reports and assess relevant control coverage.
- Update control descriptions to reflect changes in technology or processes.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the IT Controls Testing function.
- Report findings to the IT Risk Manager and support risk treatment planning.
What You’ll Need To Do The Role
- Solid understanding of IT controls and how they support data integrity and system security.
- Ability to assess and prioritise risks resulting from control deficiencies.
- High attention to detail with strong documentation and analytical skills.
- Experience in audit or controls testing roles.
- Strong communication skills, able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and organised with a positive, proactive approach.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have
- Experience in IT controls testing in a finance-related environment.
- Background in IT or IT service delivery.
- A relevant professional qualification such as CISA or equivalent.
