The supply chain strategy and performance excellence department are responsible for the provision of expert supply chain strategy and operational advice to clients that function within a fast-moving global environment. The team is made up of subject matter experts that work with the Head of Consulting to deliver the client mandate. Working together but often independently, each consultant will be expected to work, onsite and remotely, with the client on complex and engagements.

JOB OVERVIEW/INTRODUCTION

Management consulting is problem-solving. Organisations today face many problems which affect their ability to perform. With the ever-changing landscape and the emergence of innovative technologies, organisations need to evolve faster than ever. They need help to identify, design and implement the changes vital to their economic health. Our consultants supply their expertise to help our clients attain their performance ambition through the proposed changes.

Reporting to the Manager and working directly with the client the consultant is responsible for the provision of independent expert advice to help identify and solve challenges, increase value, and maximise business efficiency and profitability. Using established processes whilst working with the client’s senior leadership and support staff the consultant will assist in the creation of strategies, processes optimisation and identifying solutions to meet client needs.

Squarcle consultants work across both project delivery and business development:

  • Delivery: Squarcle management consultants work to supply solutions to the client’s changing business needs. The scope of engagements is highly variable and can include core strategy development, large scale implementation, process optimisation, change management, and innovative technology introduction.
  • Business development: Squarcle places an emphasis on leading sector thinking in the development of latest ideas. This can include producing white papers and internal research on relevant changes occurring in the sector and the impact of the general economy.

Consultants will have the opportunity to work across four broad subject areas:

  • Strategy: Strategy consultants provide clients with guidance in various spheres of business, including corporate strategy, business transformation, and digital and innovation capabilities
  • Operations: Operations consultants provide clients with guidance about business process optimizations to improve operational business capabilities and support ongoing client delivery.
  • Information Technology: Information technology consultants supply and implement technological solutions for the client.
  • Human Capital: Human capital consultants provide clients with solutions with change management and aide with any organisational changes that may affect the employees

PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Able to lead, support and participate fully on project teams.
  • Create and maintain a variety of P3 Management and controls documents.
  • Curate relevant data, using both internal and external resources.
  • Deliver to Squarcle standards and meet client\’s expectations demonstrating ability managing scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Develop and strengthen client relationships and trust through acting with integrity.
  • Ensure quality products and services are delivered on time, in scope and meet Squarcle’s highest standard for deliverables.
  • Define the project or task scope, plan, and procurement artefacts including Statements of Requirement (SOR), Business Cases and Tender Documentation.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to undertake and deliver across a variety of P3M role profiles in delivery.
  • Deliver P3M presentations to facilitate the upskilling of colleagues who want to improve their capabilities.
  • Develop and implement executive level governance structure, while helping to drive meeting structure and discussions in delivery and if applicable in Squarcle.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance project management processes.
  • Continuously seek to develop your P3M skills, learning from a range of sources, including formal training, learning from experience, and coaching and mentoring.
  • Be happy to add value when participating in discussions and workshops with the client to understand.
  • Review the findings from the analysis and present solutions to the client.
  • Develop and maintain a plan to implement the recommended changes, and if required articulate these to the client.
  • Manage Project Risks and escalate to the manager.

SECONDARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performance management of staff
  • Develop and refine Squarcle methods
  • Support to wider team activities e.g., knowledge sessions, recruitment etc

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (ESSENTIAL)

  • Bachelor’s degree (2:1) or higher in a related subject.
  • 2+ years Management Consulting industry experience.
  • One or more P3M certifications achieved (APM, PMP, Agile, Lean) .
  • Work as part of multi-disciplinary teams that may be from multiple organisations
  • Strong communicate skills, with an ability to communicate clearly, confidently, to the highest standard, in your written, presentational, and day to day work.
  • Persuade and influence people
  • Comprehensive knowledge of P3M delivery (E.g. Agile, Waterfall, Lean, etc).
  • Manage and control project or task Cost, Time & Scope, Risk and Change.
  • Find pragmatic solutions to often conflicting constraints.
  • Carefully manage expectations & client relationships.
  • Deliver projects and tasks to outstanding quality requirements, including, where required assist in the execution of administrative duties on client accounts.
  • Comfortable developing and delivering P3M coaching to colleagues to help transfer your knowledge and skills, either internally or with clients.
  • Build and maintain excellent client relationships.
  • Successful candidates must be prepared to apply for, and pass security clearance, before they are appointed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (DESIRABLE)

  • Experience of working in Supply Chain Sales and Operations.
  • P3M assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • S&OP training (APICS, CPIM, CIPs or CILT).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI and Visio.
  • Ability to structure and manage intensive workloads.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence to effectively deal with increasingly diverse clients and teams.
  • Confidence and maturity to work with senior executives.
  • Experience of capability and acquisition in Defence.
  • Experience of Defence especially Defence approvals, incl. the writing of Review Notes, Main Gate Business Cases etc.

This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you’ve been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn.
