Location: Stevenage (On site) Department: Spacecraft Build & Test Contract Type: 6 Months (Likely to be extended) Hourly Rate: £45p/h Inside IR35 Role Overview The EGSE Engineer is responsible for specifying, procuring, and supporting electrical test racks used during spacecraft build and test activities. This includes validation, routine maintenance, and the configuration and administration of computers within the EGSE network. Key Responsibilities Perform maintenance and fault diagnosis on electronic and RF test racks. Administer computer systems and networks across Windows and Linux platforms. Develop and maintain scripts and programs to support automated testing. Participate in environmental and launch test campaigns. Prepare test specifications, review supplier documentation, and support design and non-conformance reviews of test equipment. Essential Skills & Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years). Strong theoretical and practical understanding of electronic and RF test systems. Proven fault-finding skills down to board and component level. Experience in network and computer administration (Windows/Linux). Proficient in producing technical documentation (procedures, reports, specifications). Familiarity with communication interfaces such as MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, CAN bus, RS232/422. Experience with ATE environments including PCI, VXI, PXI. Skilled in using general-purpose laboratory test equipment. Experience in the design, manufacture, and commissioning of test systems. Willingness to support shift work and travel internationally for test campaigns. Desirable Skills Experience in electrical integration of spacecraft equipment. Working knowledge of TMTC databases. Ability to write and debug test sequences/scripts for spacecraft systems, including FDIR via Central Checkout Systems (CCS). Experience with environmental and launch test campaigns.
