Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: Manchester Salary: £60,000-£70,000 per annum, plus company car or allowance About the Role You will serve as a Senior Quantity Surveyor working on high-stakes critical infrastructure projects within the UK\’s data centre sector. Your role will involve managing both mechanical and electrical (M&E) packages, ensuring cost-effective delivery, contractual compliance, and commercial excellence throughout project lifecycles. Key Responsibilities Oversee the full commercial lifecycle of M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) scopes within data centre projects, including CSA/MEP packages Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial reporting through all project stages Administer contracts using forms such as NEC and JCT, manage variations, claims, and change orders; support dispute resolution and claims management where necessary Lead procurement activities by negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure best value and cost control Conduct risk assessments and implement cost-saving strategies to optimize commercial outcomes Produce and present monthly cost reports, forecasts, and valuations; maintain alignment with contractual and compliance standards Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders-including project managers, financial teams, suppliers, and clients-to maintain transparency and commercial effectiveness Experience & Qualifications Minimum of 8 years\’ experience, including extensive work on mechanical and electrical projects within the construction sector-ideally within critical infrastructure or data centres Proven experience in managing CSA/MEP scopes in large-scale, technically complex projects Robust contract administration skills, particularly with NEC and JCT forms. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Economics, or equivalent. Strong commercial acumen: cost planning, forecasting, value engineering, procurement strategy. Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management abilities Experience preparing valuations, claims, and reports; ability to guide junior staff where needed.
