Job Title: Independent Living Support Worker
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £26,549.63 Per Annum, Pro Rata (£27,722.51 achieved after 18 months successful performance in the role) Per Annum, Pro Rata
Working Hours: 30 hours per week
Working Pattern: 2 week shift pattern between 9am and 8pm, Monday to Sunday
Location: Eden Rural Foyer, Penrith, Cumbria

The difference you will make as an Independent Living Support Worker
You will be working from one of our supported services providing support to customers in a variety of ways, such as connecting them with employability coaches and other support agencies, helping them manage their money, signing up for benefits, or moving on to a more permanent home. You will help boost their confidence and support them on their journey as they rebuild their lives. You will need to keep records of everything, so there is admin to do. The role can be tough at times, but is often rewarding. You will need to be resilient, empathetic, and able to leave work at work.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience of working with vulnerable people
- Experience of delivering structured support and risk management
- A team player with a caring and empathetic nature, a resilient, can-do attitude, and the ability to work as part of a team
- An understanding of supporting vulnerable people – this could include having lived experience of homelessness or drug or alcohol addiction
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet customer and business needs, which may not include normal office hours and may include lone working

Role Profile
Supporting Customers
We use psychologically informed approaches and trauma-informed care principles to support customers to develop new ways of thinking and take steps toward independence. This includes:
- Leading on co-producing bespoke support and move-on plans with key stakeholders
- Organising and reviewing support and risk plans
- Engaging customers to meet outcomes and develop life skills
- Assisting with day-to-day support and tenancy-related matters
- Identifying opportunities for employment, education and training and helping remove barriers
- Signposting to external support services (e.g., food banks and community resources)
- Supporting customers to be tenancy-ready and financially independent
- Monitoring healthcare needs and coordinating with healthcare professionals
- Encouraging self-management of medications where appropriate
- Leading on group work and safeguarding
- Recording accurate customer information on the appropriate system
Service Delivery
- Facilitate referrals and assess potential new customers
- Contribute to housing management service delivery, including income collection and tenancy support
- Maintain a safe environment by reporting repairs and health and safety concerns
- Prepare rooms as needed
- Manage difficult situations sensitively, balancing individual needs with service safety
- Develop local partnerships for a holistic range of support
- Carry out day-to-day administration and operational duties
- Flexible hours and travel to properties within the defined area
- Use Lone Worker system when necessary and follow Riverside policies
