About the Role:
Our client is seeking to hire an experienced Equity Analyst to join their dynamic and growing hedge fund based in London. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual with expertise in US Financials sector stocks, particularly in fintech and insurance. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing actionable insights and recommendations for both long and short strategies across this sector, with a focus on uncovering mispricing opportunities. The successful candidate for this role will be provided with a clear pathway to running their own book.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on US Financials stocks, with a focus on fintech and insurance companies, to generate actionable investment ideas for the portfolio.
- Develop and maintain financial models, including forecasting and valuation models, to support investment decisions.
- Collaborate with senior investment professionals to generate ideas for both long and short positions in the financials sector.
- Monitor and evaluate macroeconomic, regulatory, and industry trends that impact the fintech and insurance subsectors.
- Maintain regular communication with company management teams, industry experts, and other relevant stakeholders to gain insights into market developments.
- Contribute to the development of the investment strategy by presenting your findings, stock ideas, and market insights in team meetings.
- Maintain and enhance knowledge of key fintech and insurance trends, keeping up with industry news, earnings reports, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of buy side equity research experience with a specific focus on the US Financials sector, particularly fintech and insurance stocks.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research and deliver fundamental analysis.
- Minnimum of 2 years of experience with long/short investment strategies and a deep understanding of how to construct and manage these positions.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, company fundamentals, and key industry metrics specific to fintech and insurance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field is preferred. CFA or equivalent qualification is a plus.
